Hi, I’m Ruth!

I’m a chemist, a materials innovator, and a mixed media artist. I get excited about color and about the huge variety of materials that make up all the stuff around us.

I like learning about what things are made of, what factors give materials their characteristic qualities, and the flow of materials through our society in products and supply chains. Recently I’ve been especially interested in waste materials as a resource, whether it’s using the amazing toolset of chemistry to transform substances at the molecular level or using art and design to reimagine the meaning and value of waste.
